Mr. and Mrs. Will Sebright and Mesdames Lena Martin and Millie Simkins and Minnie Hoerner were in Allegan Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. F. Hoerner and family and their guest, Mrs. Frank Boughner, Mr. and Mrs. F. King and daughter and Jake Krug and Mr. and Mrs. W. Leggett spent Sunday afternoon at Selkirk lake. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sebright spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Perl Sebright. Mr. and Mrs. John Brinkert spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Martin. Mrs. Millie Simkins has sold her farm to an Oklahoma party. Consideration $4,000. Mrs. Emery May and daughter Wilma and Mrs. A Mudgett visited their sister, Mrs. F. Briggs last Wednesday. Mrs. Johnson has company from Chicago. Mr. Rufus Curtis visited Mr. and Mrs. A. Mudgett and family last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Belden and Mrs. Eva Moore spent Sunday in the home of Mrs. Belden's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Baugham, in Holland. Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Miller and son Charley called on Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Belden last Sunday night. Miss Mildred Van Houten spent the week end with her friend, Miss Eulah Moon. Mrs. Ray Pykett of Kalamazoo spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Heywood. Mr. Henry Calkins and family of Bravo called at the home of Irvin Fox last Friday. Lester Baines of Cressey spent Sunday with relatives here. Elmer Altenbern lost one of his best cows from snake bite. Mr. John O'Brian is very sick with no hope of recovery. Richard, Ruth and Margaret Moore returned home Sunday from a two week visit in Indiana. George Moore and Ed Myers spent Sunday with relatives and friends in Indiana. Miss Winnifred Smith, who has been working at Martin for some time, is at home. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Martin attended the schoolmates picnic at the Stark farm last Saturday. Those from this vicinity who attended the Miner-Lonsbury-Leggett reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lutts in Allegan last Thursday were the families of Will, Ray, Glenn and Lynn Miner, Mrs. Julia Miner and Mrs. Fannie Lonsbury and daughter Mae. Miss Elsie Blair entertained a niece, Miss Stegeman, the first of the week. Miss Ruth Dostie of Monterey visited Miss Naurene Wilcox, and other friends here last week. | J. W. Satteries and Wm. Blanchard were Grand Rapids visitors last week Thursday. Miss Mabel Holman is spending a two weeks vacation with her parents. The interior of the M. E. church is being redecorated this week. L. C. Walter moved into the Wm. Nicolai house this week. Mrs. Olie Foote moved into the house vacated by them, which she recently purchased. Mrs. Mary Williams of Auburn, N. Y., is spending two weeks in the homes of J. Maloney and Geo. Sebright. Bernard Wicks spent a few days this week in Grand Rapids and Flint. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Walter visited their son Lynn at Ann Arbor Saturday and Sunday. Miss Helen Rackam of Northville is visiting the home of D. A. Holman. Beatrice Martin of Allegan is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Geo. Schweikert. Mrs. Ernest Hulsapie and son of Grand Rapids spent several days last week with her sister, Mrs. Aaron Schafer. Mr. and Mrs. Will Kemmer of Kalamazoo visited in the home of Aaron Schafer from Saturday until Monday. Mr. Oscar Burgdorf and children of Conklin were guests of Mrs. Margaret Schafer Sunday. Mesdames Will Smalla, Ernest Hulsapple, Aaron Schafer and Leo Warring motored to Allegan Saturday. Mrs. Kate Milheim of Miner Lake was a guest of her son Leon Sunday. Fenton Sebright is enjoying an 8 day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sebright. Miss Dorothy Snyder visited in the home of Leon Shimmons at Allegan this week. Rev. Juach was in Holland on business Tuesday. Mrs. D. A. Holman and daughters, Mabel and Verna, and Miss Helen Rackam spent from Monday until Friday in the Lane cottage at Gun lake. Miss May Dendel and Mr. Floyd Dendel of Lansing were week-end guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Dendel. Mr. and Mrs. John Maloney and family and Arnold Kunkel spent Sunday at Holland. Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Lovall and Mrs. S. B. Lovall motored to Ft. Wayne, Ind., Tuesday to spend the remainder of the week. Mrs. Gust Braun and children of Allegan were week-end guests in the home of Carl Knoblock. A company of friends met at the home of Mildred Knoblock last Wednesday and reminded her of her 15th birthday. The afternoon was spent with games, after which ice cream and cake were served. All reported a good time. W. F. Nicolai was in Ann Arbor Monday on business. Vera Commans of Allegan spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Commans. Sumner Kidder and Ray Morrison were home from Camp Custer Sunday. Mrs. Goodell of Allegan spent a few days this week with her daughter, Mrs. Leon Milheim. Miss Norma Arehart, who has been visiting in the home of her uncle for some time, returned to her home in Kalamazoo last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Van Orman and daughter Geraldine spent from Saturday until Tuesday in Snyder's cottage at Miner Lake. The Misses Lydia and Esther Plosterd and Velma Nicolai took teachers examination at Allegan last week. Bernard Fox of Hickory Corners was a guest of his parents Saturday and Sunday. Miss Mae Bacon is spending a week with her mother, Mrs. Emily Bacon. |
